JTA is a Canberra-based multi-disciplinary architectural practice and research firm that works closely and collaboratively with clients, authorities, consultants and builders on modern, environmentally responsive and adaptive residential, commercial and heritage projects in Australia and Malaysia, as well as consulting with other architects.

Dr. John Ting has also taught design, construction and history at RMIT University and the University of Melbourne. He is currently Assistant Professor in the architecture and building & construction management programs at the University of Canberra. John’s practice is informed by his research and teaching.

John graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (with honours) in 1990 from RMIT University in Melbourne, a five year accredited professional program. He received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in August 2015 and is a registered architect in Victoria (Reg. No. 15221) and the Australian Capital Territory (Reg. No. 2527).

The practice was established in 2002. Before this, John was a junior partner at Ting Dan Rakan Rakan Akitek in Kuching for five years. Prior to this, he worked on a number of medium to large commercial and residential projects as a design architect (at Metier 3 Architects, Melbourne). He received his early architectural training from design-focused, award winning Melbourne architecture firms such as Gregory Burgess Architects, Ashton Raggatt MacDougal and Peter Elliott Architects.
